Students Comments About My Guitar Lessons:
Hey Ron, I just wanted to say that your agreat guitar teacher. I learned more from you in few months than I did from my other teacher in 2 years!
Tony P. New Hyde Park
“You are the Best Guitar teacher in the world!” ???
These were the words of one of my favorite students Sarah H. from Muttontown.
Sarah is 4 and a half years old and she is officially my youngest student ever!
Thank you Sarah but I don’t know if I’m the best guitar teacher in the world.
Maybe the best guitar teacher on Long Island!
Sarah’s tiny hands presented a problem teaching wise.
Even though she plays a ¾ scale guitar (1/4 smaller than a standard guitar)
she still could not reach the lower notes.
So, being the best guitar teacher in the world, I came up with an awesome idea!
First I took off the 2 lowest strings so that she could reach all 4 remaining strings.
Then I changed the tuning of the remaining strings.
Tuning the strings to a lower pitch makes them much easier for small fingers to play.
After just 4 lessons she can play a Major scale and a few chords too!

The Stylus Pick
This is what you need to take your playing to the next level.
One of the most common mistakes that I find with my students is how they hold and use the pick. A lot of people hold the pick too high leaving too much of the pick open. This leads to the pick dipping too far below the surface of the string.
The Stylus pick forces you to play correctly or you get punished!!!
I often compare it to the “Invisible Fence” for dogs….when a dog passes a certain spot they get a mild shock. Well, no, the stylus pick won’t shock you but it will stop you in your tracks if you play too deep. This can be very annoying and you will go out of your way to make sure it doesn’t happen.
I started playing with the stylus pick about 15 years ago and saw a dramatic improvement in my playing after just a week or so.
